About Dispensary33

Dispensary33 opened on December 9, 2015 as Chicago's first medical cannabis dispensary, and it made Illinois' first legal recreational sale on January 1, 2020. The name nods to 1933, the year alcohol prohibition ended.

Products sit in custom display orbs designed by architect Jaime Magaliff, so you see the actual flower before you buy. In January 2025 the company became 100 percent employee owned, through a trust that covers more than 200 staff. It also started Waldo's Forever Fest, billed as Chicago's first 4/20 street festival.
